1) modeling- “I minister & you watch"
2) mentoring- “I teach, we learn together & we minister together”
3) monitoring- “You minister & I will watch and supervise"
4) mobilizing- “You assume responsibility & I will move into the background"
5) multiplying- “You do this process with someone else."
I’ve heard this outline of disciple making in one form or another from a few different sources, but this particular list came from an article I read called “Methods of Disciple Making.” The topic of “disciple making” is one that I really would like to highlight in my ministry here at King of Glory. It is my prayer that all of the ministries offered at King of Glory would have disciple making as the central focus. What is a disciple? (That in itself might be a whole separate blog post) Simply put, a disciple is one who believes in Jesus, holds to His words (John 8:31) and grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Much more could be said about discipleship and disciple making, but for today I’d like you to think through the list of “M’s” above and ponder the life of Christ told in the Gospels. When one thinks through the unfolding of the life of Christ, he or she sees the way Jesus is molding His disciples. May He do that in my life and your life!
How have you seen God use a mature believer to guide you through this process of walking through the stages of discipleship? Would you like to be connected with a mature believer who would walk with you through these stages?
